Slim Chances… LET’S CHECK!
A Study on the Presence of Women at Public Art Universities, 2025
In January 2026, a report presenting the results of a study conducted by an interdisciplinary research team affiliated with the Faculty of Sociology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań was published. Titled Slim Chances… LET’S CHECK! A Study on the Presence of Women at Public Art Universities, 2025, the research examined the issue of the glass ceiling encountered by women within the structures of art academies. Its aim was to compare and update the findings of the earlier study Little chance to advance?, carried out in 2015 by a research team commissioned by the Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation.
The report offers a cross-sectional analysis identifying contemporary patterns in the presence of women at art universities, barriers to career advancement, and the challenges currently faced by both students and employees within these institutional structures.
As the report’s reviewer, Dr. Anna M. Górska, notes: “The report consistently challenges the simplified assumption that ‘more women’ means ‘less discrimination’, showing that numerical presence can in fact serve as a cover for maintaining the status quo.”
